Garmin has chosen CES 2025 to showcase its new radar system designed specifically for motorcycles: the zūmo™ R1 Radar. This compact and rugged device is designed to provide motorcyclists with greater awareness of the road by constantly monitoring their rear view and blind spots. In fact, the new zūmo R1 Radar brings technology that until now has been reserved mainly for cars to two wheels. Thanks to the warning lights on the handlebars, the motorcyclist is warned of the presence of approaching vehicles, while the rear side lights increase visibility when on the move, making it easier for other road users to spot the motorcycle. The zūmo R1 Radar is designed to adapt to the different needs of motorcyclists. It can be used as a standalone device or paired with the zūmo™ Radar mobile app and the zūmo XT2 motorcycle navigator (purchasable separately for 600 euros). Among its main features are the real-time display of approaching vehicles on a compatible screen (smartphone with the app or navigator). There are also audio warnings in case of danger, connecting to a helmet or headset via the app. Finally, it should be noted that it is possible to adjust lights and warnings directly from the app, allowing you to customize the distance at which to signal vehicles in blind spots. Garmin has thought of everything, including the compact and discreet design of its zūmo R1 radar. The device easily mounts above or below the license plate of the motorcycle, integrating perfectly without altering the aesthetics of the vehicle. Made with black powder-coated hardware and certified IP67 for resistance to dust and water, the zūmo R1 is designed to be installed on any motorcycle, promising reliable performance in any situation.
