The previous model already represented the pinnacle of Arai's current knowledge and technology. So, where has the new "Evo" improved even further?
First of all, in terms of homologation, now ECE R22-06 (which requires a more stringent testing process than the previous ECE R22-05 homologation and requires more impact points, as well as an oblique test to measure helmet rotation), ventilation is even more advanced thanks to improvements to the internal channels, and the ergonomics of the cheek pads have been improved in the event of a potential impact. Precisely for this last reason, Arai produces outer shells that are as rounded, smooth, and resistant as possible to improve the helmet's ability to slide and deflect energy. This, along with the one-piece, multi-density inner shell, represents a unique feature and the heart of Arai's philosophy.
We also find all the features that have made the RX-7V a successful helmet, such as the VAS visor closure system (Variable Axis System; the visor does not pivot on a fixed point, but follows a fixed path to move), the locking system derived from that used in Formula 1, the completely removable interior made of antibacterial and hypoallergenic material, and the double-D ring closure.
