Tech-Air® Off-Road is an FIM-approved airbag system designed specifically to withstand the rigors of rally riding and provide unparalleled upper body protection.
Developed and tested since 2017 in the most grueling conditions of the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest off-road race, the Tech-Air® Off-Road System offers the most advanced active airbag technology for off-road riding.
The Tech-Air® Off-Road System, with its inflated active airbag, offers complete CE Level 1 protection for the chest and back, as well as coverage for the shoulders, neck, and collarbones in the event of a crash. The system is integrated with an Alpinestars Off-Road Protection Jacket, featuring Level 1 passive protection for the back and limbs, integrated arm protection, and Level 2 passive protection for the chest, offering riders increased protection against rocks, debris, and other obstacles they may encounter on the trail. Designed to tackle any terrain, the system features three riding modes: ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET, making it the perfect choice for all types of on- and off-road riding.
TECH-AIR® OFF-ROAD RIDING MODES: ENDURO, RALLY, AND STREET
The Tech-Air® Off-Road System provides protection in ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET modes, including collisions with obstacles and loss-of-control falls (commonly referred to as "low-side" and "high-side" falls).
ENDURO mode is optimized for low- to medium-speed riding where the rider navigates unpaved surfaces such as gravel, riverbeds, mud, and other natural terrain. These riding scenarios typically involve multiple changes in direction, navigating obstacles and hills at slow speeds.
RALLY mode is optimized for fast off-road riding on any type of terrain and is recommended for riding characterized by longer straight stretches, multiple bumps, and varying terrain at high speeds, which are rarely encountered in typical Enduro competitions. Typical environments in which these riding scenarios occur include desert terrain (with dunes and sandy terrain), gravel, and open countryside.
STREET mode is optimized for paved roads and includes situations where the rider's motorcycle is struck by another vehicle while stationary.
KEY FEATURES OF THE TECH-AIR® OFF ROAD SYSTEM
The first airbag system dedicated to off-road riding, Tech-Air® Off-Road features three riding modes: ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET.
You can easily change riding modes, even on the move, using the button on the LED display on the front of the system or via the Tech-Air® app.
The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD System features dual charging, meaning that with two full gas inflators, the System provides two separate airbag inflations, as only one gas inflator activates to inflate the entire airbag system during a crash scenario.
Opening the quick-release cover allows for quick replacement of the gas inflator by the user (available only in countries where private inflator replacement is permitted by local regulations).
A completely autonomous and independent system; three accelerometers (one triaxial accelerometer) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial gyroscope) are integrated into the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to provide the best crash monitoring performance and active airbag protection in a variety of dynamic off-road driving scenarios. No external sensors are required for the system to function.
The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD System uses a certified, integrated lithium-ion battery with a full charge of 30 hours and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours; charging the battery for approximately 1 hour provides approximately 8 hours of use on the bike.
The LED display features a built-in charging port for convenient and easy charging; simply insert the USB-C cable into the charging port on the system's LED display and connect it to a power source.
Ease of Use: To turn on the Tech-Air® Off-Road System, simply zip the system up and it will automatically turn on, activating the airbag system. To deactivate the airbag, unzip the system and it will automatically turn off.
The ECU features a dedicated shipping mode slide switch that, when turned on, puts the system into sleep mode. Accessible only after removing the rear guard cover, the shipping mode switch allows you to disconnect the battery from the system.
