Alpinestars Tech-Air® MX is an advanced airbag system designed specifically for motocross and supercross riders.

Since introducing airbag technology to MotoGP in 2003 with the Tech-Air® Race System, Alpinestars has expanded airbag protection into several motorsport disciplines, with the Tech-Air® Off-Road System being tested by Dakar Rally riders since 2014. Building on experience gained in MotoGP and the Dakar Rally, Alpinestars began MX-specific data collection in 2016 with top athletes in AMA Supercross, Motocross and FIM MXGP. This extensive research led to the creation of the Tech-Air® MX System, featuring a sophisticated deployment algorithm that provides precise and rapid airbag deployment in the demanding and dynamic environments MX and Supercross riders face—such as ruts, banked corners, jumps, and whoops—ensuring riders are fully protected in the sport's most demanding conditions. The Tech-Air® MX offers extensive and effective upper body protection, revolutionizing MX protection with a self-contained airbag system integrated into a compact chest protector. The Tech-Air® MX is an innovative and affordable airbag protection solution that MX riders can easily wear as part of their gear, offering unparalleled upper body protection on the track. The Tech-Air® MX System offers riders the flexibility to choose between four riding modes, each with an optimized algorithm that allows the system to detect impending impacts and deploy the airbag in crash situations. Riders can easily switch between three riding modes at any time to suit their discipline—motocross or off-road riding. The Tech-Air® MX System provides CE LEVEL 1 passive protection on both the chest and back. When inflated, the airbag offers CE LEVEL 1 active protection on the back, offering four times the protection of a passive protector alone. When activated, the Tech-Air® system's airbag provides protection to the rider's shoulders, chest, and back for unprecedented upper body coverage in motocross.

Multiple Riding Modes: The Tech-Air® MX System comes preloaded with the default MX Mode, which allows for use on off-road tracks and is specifically designed for motocross riding. The system also offers two additional riding modes ("MY RIDE 1" and "MY RIDE 2"), which can be customized by the user via the Tech-Air® App by selecting from the currently available riding modes: MX RACE, ENDURO, and RALLY. Once the MY RIDE 1 and MY RIDE 2 riding modes are set, users can easily switch between them by pressing the button on the LED display or using the Tech-Air® App*. They can also change between MY RIDE 1 and MY RIDE 2 riding modes if desired by resetting them via the Tech-Air® App.
MX/MX RACE Crash Detection Algorithm: Refined with thousands of hours of riding and crash data, and fully tested by Alpinestars professional riders in extreme racing conditions, including MXGP, AMA MX, and Supercross training environments, the crash activation algorithm allows the system to accurately assess when to deploy the airbag prior to a crash or other dangerous situation.
Active Airbag Protection: Upon detection of a crash situation, a protective airbag is activated, providing unparalleled protection to the rider with an average inflation time of 40 ms, depending on the airbag size.
System Versatility: The Tech-Air® MX System can be worn over or under any properly fitted clothing with enough room to accommodate the airbag inflation in the event of deployment.
Single Gas Inflator Deployment: A single gas inflator provides one airbag deployment for guaranteed protection. After airbag deployment, the gas inflator must be replaced before the system can be used again. The system has a quick-release opening that allows for quick replacement of the gas inflator by users, available only in countries where replacement of the gas inflator by individuals is permitted by local regulations.
Battery Life and Charging Time: The Tech-Air® MX System uses a built-in, certified lithium-ion battery, with a fully charged battery life of 30 hours and a charging time of approximately 4 hours; a 1-hour charge provides approximately 8 hours of ride time.
Quick-Release Lid Design: Allows for quick replacement of the gas inflator.
Activating/Deactivating the System: Activating the Tech-Air® MX is easy; simply attach the left buckle of the System to the Tora Protector
